MADRID–GRANADA–CORDOBA–SEVILLE-TANGIER-CASABLANCA–
FEZ - MARRAKECH
Only 14 km separate Europe from Africa, Spain from Morocco. Two lands,
once, shared the Muslim culture. We propose a journey that will transport the
traveller from the essence of the ancient Al-Andalus and the beautiful
landscapes and cities of Andalusia–Cordoba, Granada, Seville…-to the
fascinating Morocco. And here, some of the most emblematic sights of this
vibrant north African country, including the magical Marrakech. A striking
encounter between old and new that is expressed in the architecture, crafts and
daily life of these always amazing cities.
Itinerary:
1st. Day
MADRID
Arrival at Madrid International Airport. Welcome by a member of
our staff and short panoramic visit through some of the highlights of this
capital, the only one founded by Muslims in the western world: Royal Palace,
Plaza de España, Gran Vía, Habsburg old Quarter, Mayor Street, Puerta del Sol,
Cibeles Fountain, Puerta de Alcalá, the Bullring, Paseo de la Castellana, and,
of course, Real Madrid Stadium. Transfer to the selected hotel. Free time until
dinner. Overnight in Madrid.
2nd Day.
MADRID – GRANADA
Breakfast. Departure towards Granada (Gharnata) the last Muslim
Kingdom in Al Andalus. In the afternoon, guided visit to the wonderful
Alhambra, the red fortress and palace built on top of a hill, the most visited
attraction in Spain and one of the most famous in the world: Alcazaba
(Citadel), the three Nasrid Palaces and the magnificent gardens of the
Generalife. Dinner in a local restaurant in the old Arab quarter known as
Albaicín (World Heritage). Overnight in Granada.
3rd Day.
GRANADA – CORDOBA -SEVILLE
Breakfast. Transfer to Córdoba, peak splendor of Al Andalus.
Guided visit to the superb historic center of Cordoba, the old Ummayad capital:
the exquisite Great –Aljama-Mosque, the most splendid Islamic monument in the
western world, walls, Torre de la Calahorra, the Roman Bridge, and the Arab
quarter of the old medina with its lively shops. After lunch. transfer to
Seville (Isbiliya), current capital of Andalusia, filled with scent of azahar
(orange blossom). Check in at the selected hotel and shorttime to rest. Before
dinner, walking tour through the most iconic and beautiful sights of this
wonderful city: the emblematic Giralda, former Almohad minaret, the banks of
the Guadalquivir River, the Torre del Oro…. Halal dinner at local restaurant. Overnight
in Seville.
4th Day.
SEVILLE- TARIFA- TANGIER
Breakfast. Before saying goodbye to Seville, panoramic visit to
Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España. Transfer to Tarifa. Halal lunch on route,
in the very famous Costa del Sol. After crossing the Gibraltar Strait between
Spain and Morocco, arrival to Tangier, city of huge strategic importance at the
entrance to the Mediterranean, and the enthralling gateway to Africa. Panoramic
tour will include, time permitting, Cap Spartel, Kasbah, medina, Mellah, Berber
souks. Dinner at local restaurant and lodging at the selected hotel.
5th Day.
TANGIER – FEZ
After breakfast, departure towards Fez, the religious and
intellectual capital of Morocco: the medieval medina (declared World Heritage
site by UNESCO) with its Attarine and Bou Inania medersas, the Nejjarine
fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the Karaouine Mosque, one of the most
imposing in Morocco. It houses a university which is thought to be the oldest
in the world, founded in the middle of the 9th century by a woman. Dinner and
overnight in Fez.
6th Day. FEZ
– CASABLANCA- MARRAKECH
Breakfast. Transfer to Marrakech via Casablanca, the economic
capital of Morocco, a vast sprawling and modern city with more than 3 million
inhabitants which principal attraction is the Hassan II Mosque, completed in
1933 on land reclaimed from the Atlantic. This breathtaking mosque, with the
world’s tallest minaret, is able to accommodate more than 100,000 worshipers.
Before driving through quartier Anfa, la Corniche, ontinuation to Marrakech.
Founded in 1070-72 by the Almoravids, this magical city remained a political,
economic and cultural center for a long period. Its influence was felt
throughout the western Muslim world, from North Africa to Andalusia. Dinner and
accommodation in Marrakech.
7th Day.
MARRAKECH
Breakfast. The whole day is devoted to sighteeing Marrakech, the
magical red city full of gardens and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. We
will visit the historical city: the Koutoubia minaret, the Saadian tombs, the
Bahia palace, and the Mederssa ben Yopussef and its museum. Late in the
afternoon, we will visit the very famous Djemaa El Fna square with its
surrounding, the medina and the Bazars, souks and handicraft quarters. In 2001
the cultural space of Jemaa el-Fna was proclaimed Masterpiece of the Oral and
Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Dinner and overnight in Marrakesh.
8th Day.
MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA
After breakfast, transfer to Mohammed V airport of Casablanca,
depending of departure time. End of our services.
